Cerambycidae of the Central Selva. Satipo Province, Peru.

The expectation of a new book is already this year

The end of the year is approaching, and this period brings us good news.

The book “Barbels of the Selva Central, Satipo Province, Peru” is planned to be published. A book about woodcutter beetles living in the jungles of central Peru.
For many years, the researchers of our association have been studying their species composition and distribution,
behavioral characteristics and other characteristics, which helped to collect a huge amount of data.
The book contains many drawings of these entertaining creatures with magnificent mustaches and extraordinary coloring.
Barbels are very diverse and beautiful, as well as one of the largest families in terms of the number of species described in it!
Barbels also include the world’s largest lumberjack beetle, titan (Titanus giganteus L.), reaching a length of 18 or even 21 cm!
Just imagine this big guy! Or, for example, did you know that the larval stage in some beetles can take up to several years?
There’s not much left. We are looking forward to the release of the book. And we hope that it will be of interest to specialists and everyone who is interested in nature.
